We work hard to meet the physical, emotional, and personal needs of our patients in a caring and considerate manner.
What Is Skilled Nursing?
Skilled nursing care is an advanced degree of medical care delivered by or under the direct supervision of certified health professionals such as registered nurses (RNs) and physical therapists. Skilled nursing services may be required in short-term situations for patients recovering from an illness or injury, or in the long run for patients with chronic conditions or those who require a high level of care. These services are often offered in hospitals, assisted living communities, nursing homes, and other certified locations and include the following and more.
- Pain management
- Wound care
- Physical therapy
- Monitoring of medical equipment
The U.S. Department of Health and Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) is in charge of most aspects of skilled nursing. CMS requires skilled nursing communities to meet specific criteria and be inspected on a regular basis to make sure that quality standards are being maintained. In order for skilled nursing care to be covered by Medicare, Medicaid, the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), or private health insurance, it must be ordered by a doctor.
